The award commemorates the tragic\ndeath of a military member who has perished while in the line of duty.\nVHSF hopes to provide a level of comfort to the parents and families that\nare left behind.\nNo one understands the true price of these freedoms like our Gold Star\nfamilies\, whose humility\, even in times of grief\, represents the best of our\ncountry. Today\, we recognize their sacrifices by listening to their stories\,\nsharing in their pain and pride\, and pledging to do all we can to honor\nthem and the loved ones they hold close in their hearts.\nThrough unspeakable sorrow\, our Gold Star families suffer from loss that\ncan never be restored. This day is a small way for citizens to show their\nrespect and their appreciation for the Gold Star Families’ lost loved ones\nand their sacrifice that each of these families suffer daily.
