UT’s Center for the Study of Tennesseans and War Director, Chris Magra has organized a symposium onThe military history of the Declaration of Independence and the historyof the American Revolution with an eye on next year’s 250thanniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
The symposium is free and will be held this Saturday, March 1, 9:30am-3:30pm at UT’s Baker School of Public Policy and Public Affairs (formerly known as the Baker Center) located at 1640 Cumberland Ave, Knoxville, TN.

Nine scholars from universities around the country will come to Knoxville to present their original research, and Dr. Ricardo A. Herrera will give a keynote address. Dr. Herrera is a Visiting Professor in the Department of National Security and Strategy at the US Army War College. His book Feeding Washington’s Army (2022) was a finalist for the American Battlefield Trust Book Prize for History.
Refreshments will be served 9:00-9:30am, and the program will run from 9:30am to 3:30pm with breaks between presentations. Lunch will also be served.
